Hello.
School has started again .... yay :/ Going into year 11 wasn't nearly as scary as opening my maths GCSE result (i got an A*  :D), but then again, this is 'The Year It Gets Real!'.
or serious as sow said but its always been serious we just never took it seriously but this year is no joke.
Serious aside                                                                                             (haha get it) I've just come back from a house warming party, soooooo boring! im gonna make sure that all of my future house warming parties are fun and exciting (dont just involve talking to complete strangers) or I just won't have a house warming party and invite my closest friends and family....

wikipedia says: a house warming party is held within the first 90 days of a resident moving into a new house.
ahhh, the most important part of the party is the gifts given by guests to furnish the house :P

reading on you find that the origins of housewarming is quite literal. In the olddddd days, when a person moved house there would literally be a housewarming, in which friends and family would bring firewood and add it to the fireplace, this would not only warm the house but was believed to scare of evil spirits. awesome.

haha, wikipedia is hilarious! there's even a list for the variation of housewarming parties :P
but im not going to dwell into that, for in fact i am blogging for my new found love for baking! :D

I have always loved baking but today I have reached a new peak in my baking for i made something completely on my own :D Having been inspired by this weeks episode 'The Great British Bake off' i decided to make some meringues, sure they were sweet and simple but for someone who rarely bakes or has a skill for following recipes i think i did exceptionally well (especially with separating the white frrom the yellow when cracking the egg).
At first i was worried because having taken out the meringues and tasted one it wasnt that nice chewy consistency that i was after and so i concluded that i had burnt them (if thats possible) but then after adding whipped cream and leaving them to cool they became as chewy as well.... a meringue is meant to be :P

YUM!

I should be back with my next baking adventure.

snow and cakes...

Hello who ever still reads my blog :P
Last night I came out of the shower after agonisingly untangling my hair without my detangler (wasnt too pleased about that)... and i saw one of the most beautiful sights ever.... it was SNOWING :D
Then this morning i happened to wake up at 3:45 (no idea why) and i see a sheet of white puffy snow covering the world outside my window : )

Later i find little footsteps running through the deep snow.

Further examination shows they are the footsteps of the eversleepy but equally adorable, Keyla : nextdoor neighbour's cat :P

I also made some yummyliscious cupcakes while repeatedly listening to 1D (they're songs are awsome :p)

As yummy as they look, i would probably only be able to eat half, theyre really big and there's LOADS of icing :S. I was experimenting with icing techniques, so i bought an icer thing with the bag and the different nozzles, dunno what its called ;)

Have a fun time in the snow... I wonder what bushy park is like, must be amazing. My riding lesson was cancelled because of the snow :( so i didn't see.

Baking is fun...

Hello,
Today my cousin and i decided to bake a cake, just for the fun of it. Last week, we attempted carrot cake, but it wasn't a great success because it tasted all floury and gooey and the icing wasn't too great either. So today we thought we'd keep it simple and we made a fresh cream cake, which by the way tastes YUM!
although we did learn that you should use Single Cream for the cream on the cake instead of double cream because that makes the cream to think and clumpy, but it tastes the same. Anyway, here are some pics of my fun baking time...

These are my flour domes...

or maybe i'll call them flour igloos

my mummy chopping mushrooms and my cousins mixing the batter...

 And voila....
Our cake. It has pineapple butterflies...

Strawberry fans (you can't see them very well but the
strawberrys are sliced into a pretty fan shape) ...

Well, that was that, i hope to do cooler cakes but this was a lot of fun and tastes YUM YUMMMM.
Keep following

I'm speechless...

Hi
Wow, its been a long time. I'm meant to be doing my DT homework, but lets say this an further extension of it. So, today in DT we had to make mood boards for inspiration when it came to designing our chairs and we had to choose a style period from history. I've decided to stick with Surrealism, although my other option was Art Nouveau, i just think you can be REALLY creative with surrealism. Anyway, more to the point as i was wasting time for a good reason - i was picking letters for my Surrealism Title, they're all different so as to look surreal and weird. As i was doing that randre, my DT & AS Computing buddy decided to show me this amazing artist/ photographer/creative guy (not sure what he fits in really, all of them i guess) called Carl Warner, as she was wondering whether his work was surrealism. In the end we found out that it was and randre was annoyed that she hadn't chosen that style. OH WELL, now i can use his images ( should i feel bad?)
Anywhooo, so i would like to give credits before you see his images soooo

CREDITS:
Lechar Swerdna   -  for introducing me to this guys amazing mind and work
Carl Warner         -  for having an amazingly imaginative mind and producing his astounding work
(maybe he should go at the top, oh well. Here are some of my fave's)

London :)

CHOCOLATE LAND

This is one of my favourites :D

This is randre's favourite :D

This one's called 'Lake District Cheesescape'

The sea waves are red cabbage leaves!

This is another favourite, i think the  dangly bits are carrots :)

As much as i love it, its a wast of chocolate cake. I think the sea is salmon.

[fishscape_1120524i[2].jpg]
The sea is made out of fish!!! This is actually a video and it looks absolutely amazing.

I actually saw a programme where he made this foodscape.

He also does adds, although i think the fish looks slightly out of place.

Courgette State Building...

He also has lots of videos, i especially like this one because the palm trees are made out of paperclips, but i cant put the actual  video on, he's it can't be embedded so here's the link.
The link to his website is http://www.carlwarner.com/, where there are 4 folders of his foodscape work and more kl videos. I think his work is fun to look at too, i mean guessing and figuring out what food he used for in what, its really inspiring. I'm hoping it will inspire some imaginative chair ideas from me. We shall wait and see.
...

anyway, keeping following, havent said that in a while. i hope to do another post soon about peacocks and my late obsession over them. YAY.

Weddings.

Weddings are lovely occasions. The joining of two people on their very special day... okay a too soppy. But, it's true. I have had the joy of attending two weddings and an after reception but I still wait to experience an INDIAN WEDDING. (I'm waiting for my cousin to get married! her wedding is going to be awesome, so she says...).
SOooooo. As today was the royal wedding, I thought it would be reasonable to do a post on weddings, as I ponder on this topic I wonder what part of  weddings I should talk about. The guests. The scene. The flowers??? soooooo... In honour of the royal wedding here is a collection of unique
wedding CAKES. Yum.

Pile of Cushions Wedding cake
Very extravagant, lots of icing, I believe the flowers are edible too, anything is possible these days!

Van Gogh Wedding Cake
Adaptation of 'Starry Night' by the famous painter. Even more icing!

Mario and Princess Peace Wedding Cake
This is so cute, I wonder how it all balances???

Santa Sleigh Wedding Cake
I don't know what to call this one, it's on a sleigh frame pulled by reindeers... any ideas???

Cupcake Tier Wedding Cake
LOTS OF CAKE, aren't the butterflies sweet!

Self Portcake Wedding Cake
te he. See what i did? This lady had her wedding cake made like her. Not sure WHY, but i guess it made her wedding special.

In the Castle...
A perfect wedding cake for the new couple,  for Kate (now to be called Catherine) is moving into a princess life (duchess really), so I thought a castle cake would fit perfect for their wedding reception.

Castle Wedding Cake

This is my favourite castle.

Unfortunately, Kate had a different idea for her wedding cake and it is said that she guided the cake team from the beginning. Cake maker, Fiona Cairns, was given commission???, i suppose that's permission to make the cake, she said she was excited and priveledged. Fiona Cairns cake will be the focal point of the reception, which is taking place at Buckingham palace. Kate Middleton also insisted that there be edible flowers on the cake - an English Rose, a Scottish Thistle, a Welsh daffodil and an Irish shamrock(I think that's a clover). Fiona Cairns admitted that it would be multi tiered, have no colour but cream and white icing and it would be a traditional cake but with a modern and delicate touch. It is said that there would be two cakes at their wedding, which explains the other cake I found.
So without further ado, here is their first cake....

Royal Wedding cake
It's so beautiful and elegant. Just as a royal cake should be.

There's the thistle, daffodil, shamrock (clover)                          ... and there's the English Rose.
Royal Wedding cakeRoyal Wedding cake
Here is the second cake, but it isn't as pretty. I suppose this is the Modern one.
Royal Wedding cake
Apparently, new in, this  is Prince William's favourite, it's a posh version. Basically, this cake was his choice. It's a royal SECRET RECIPE and Kate has been allowed to learn the recipe now!

I wish I was there, it all went perfect and her dress was more than stunning (her train should have been longer, it would have been cool if it took the whole abbey :D). Well, there you have it, an interesting assortment of cakes and... more cakes. I hope them both a very good marriage, not that they'll see this :s. Oh well. Congratulations.

Goodbyee.
