Points of view

Hello people of the internet... I won't apologise for not blogging for such a long time since I never really find anything interesting and worthwhile to blog about, but finally I have found something deep and meaningful :P. (just brewed myself a cup of camomile tea... brewed what a funny word)

So for the past few days I have been walking to my mum's office on the way home and I'm sure others would agree it's a really pleasant walk along the river, especially if you're listening to 'Bring it all back' by S Club 7 - I'm having a nostalgic phase in my music. Anyway, today I arrived at the bridge (to cross the river) very early and so decided to sit on the bench near the steps of the bridge. I put my bag beside me and took out my maths homework, which in hindsight seems like the nerdiest I could have possible done but honestly I'm glad I did that. You see, had I just played on my IPod or texted my friends I would've been fixated on that, whereas as I did my maths homework I kept looking up as I thought over the questions I was doing and because of this I saw the single action that inspired me to write a blog post after half a year!

As I looked up towards the bridge I noticed a couple who were descending down the cycle ramp, as they did the man stopped and took his camera out. Ok, you're going to have to use your imagination a bit now - he took a picture of the leaves and branches of the tree next to the bridge so if you were standing in his position it would look as though the branches were coming towards you. This made me think... something I don't take enough time to do in my day. It made me think that this man thinks this image of rusty leaves and branches is worth capturing and it reminded me of myself because many a time I look out for artistic scenes and never miss an opportunity to take a picture, in fact many people do this because taking artistic and contemporary photos has become very popular. However, does this mean that we are more focused on finding these scenes rather than appreciating them - I don't think so.

This then led me on to thinking that everyone has a different point of view over what images are worth capturing, as the man stopped to take a photo but the woman didn't, showing they both SAW different things when they LOOKED at the tree and perhaps the woman wasn't even looking showing how some of us ignore certain things either because it's too normal to be special enough for a photo or we're just plain ignorant. For instance my mother is obsessed with taking photos for every occasion especially when we go out or on holiday because she think they're important, whereas I easily get bored of such photos because after several years they do not hold much meaning since many are posed and EXACTLY THE SAME. Hence why I get annoyed with people that take multiple photos of landmarks and sights ... it's not like the statue has changed in the 3 seconds you've taken to click the shutter... unless its the eiffel tower at night :) but in that case a video is best!

Nevertheless, some people find joy in having many pictures and that is because they see things in a different point of view, therefore, a photo that I take may be appealing and interesting to me but not have the same effect on you. To test this out I took a few photos of what I think are beautiful, quirky and interesting images and I would be grateful to see what you think of them and whether they catch your eye the same way they did mine. Comment below :)

I must admit that spider is quite horrific but I was soooo pleased when I overcame my fear and got that picture which I suppose brings me onto my last deep thought (I know it's not that deep) that people find pleasure and satisfaction in capturing photos because it expresses their point of view in the most colourful and artistic manner. That man probably felt a little happier and unbothered that he had to run after the woman because he had taken the time to appreciate that tree and its branches and thought to himself that that image would make a captivating photograph and that thought may have made him feel better about himself because in his mind he now saw it as a work of art that he had captured - in essence he felt like an artist. In this same way I don't this that things we capture on camera go unappreciated because a lot of thought goes into each click. Everyone loves the feeling of having created something wonderful using resources, no doubt photography is the easiest form of art because it takes very few resources but the skill is in the eye of the beholder and that is what I love about it.

Okidoke seems like I've come to the conclusion that I love photography, and now I have justified it to the max so I am very pleased with myself just as that man was.
Please comment :)

Procrastination...

Ahhh, someone should write a poem called, 'Ode to Procrastination'. I believe its a skill that everyone develops as they grow older, but even more everyone has adapted their procrastination differently. This post is procrastination from doing my english CA :S

As some or none, since no one reads this blog may know, I've just returned from a wedding :D My cousins to be precise, twas in India hence I left last Friday and returned yesterday morning. As my first proper Indian wedding, the experience was amazing and unforgettable, not only because of all the celebration but my cousins also make my visits worthwhile and memorable. There were several moments that I will cherish forever including the endless dancing on the engagement night, diligent attempts to steal the grooms shoes (a tradition that we failed to achieve because his friends had hidden them in the car before hand, although our efforts were not unrecognized as one of them acknowledged us at the end of the three day celebration) and of course, the usual business of nonsense with my cousins in no better location than a HOTEL!!!

I love hotels, we ordered room service on the first night :D I should explain, that our parents were really encouraging the prospect of room service but on the first night none of us were hungry (this is my two cousin sisters, were all of the same age) and so we decided not to eat anything for dinner, im not sure why they didnt, but in my case, just looking at food made my tummy tumble. So as you can imagine, after around two hours of non-stop dancing we were famished, thus we ordered something to eat downstairs at the reception after paying a visit to our mums room (we three were in one room while our other cousins were across the corridor in the room opposite and our mums were in the rooms on the floor above.). Our visit had two prime reasons, i needed to return my outfit i had worn that evening and to ask if permission to order food. My cousins know that if they want something the person to ask for an optimistic response is my mum, simply because she's the youngest of our aunts and well shes most likely to say yes. surprisingly though, she said NO! anyway, I decided to take some money out of her purse because i also know that she wouldnt want us to stay hungry and so i reached into her purse in the pitch black and took out what i thought was a bare 200 rupees (thats just under £3), however, i was shocked to see when we left the room that i had actually taken out 1500 rupees :S oppppsssss, (thats just under £20) sure it doesnt seem like much in pounds but it sure felt like a lot, anyway it was a good thing that i had taken out such a wholesome amount else we wouldnt have been able to afford much.

After ordering our food we ran the hot tap to the tub in the bathroom, having decided that we wanted to massage our feet since we had been wearing heels all morning and even danced in them for a while - BAD IDEA. When our food finally came the staff-man-service-guy was looking very... odd and rather happy, strangely happy :S anyway, he gave us the wrong change... I got very annoyed at this, how dare they think were so incapable that we wouldn't realise we were given the wrong change, now that I think of it we should have asked for a receipt. Anyway, we very quickly finished the food but having ordered too much half a plate was left on the table, thats probably the only regret we had, that last half plate gave a sickening after smell whenever we went near it and the hotel staff wouldnt even come to clear it up!

I'm being told off for blogging now, and i agree ive procrastinated enough, so I guess I should start my English. Byee... sorry for boring you with this irrelevant story. :)

Once in a Blue moon...

Hey there,
I don't really think anyone reads this blog, in fact I don't believe they ever did and even though this is a waste of a web page, it fills me with joy to share something with the world wide web!
kk... I have several things I could mention and talk about so where to start. Well as an aspiring doctor and with an ambition to study medicine at university, I have started a new blog, on which I will be posting an article about a disease, illness, symptom, cure, instrument of operation or anything else medical related :D If that interests you, you should definitely check it out:

Yesterday, i spent the whole morning baking cupcakes, a skill I still haven't grasped let alone mastered, my friend is a budding baker and I can only hope that in the next few years her ability rubs off onto me. Nevertheless, I managed to whip up an average bunch of chocolate cupcakes with mini marshmallows carefully positioned on top stuck on with wisps of meringue. They are meant to be grilled before serving but I just sprinkled cocoa to give the same affect :P

I did attempt another batch of cupcakes with strawberry jam and meringue swirls on top but they didnt quite rise enough and the meringue went a bit soft so they're not worthy of the blog. Neither were they worthy of a visit to my neighborscupcakes were a great excuse for visiting my neighbor who is not very well at the moment and thus i set out of my house armed with  a bowl full of chocolate merriment (armed sounds as though I'm going to be attacked in the story.. don't worry nothing happens).

As I left the house I felt great pride in my idea to take cupcakes and visit them, all i needed was a long red coat and a basket and I would be Little Red Riding Hood, rushing off to visit her Grandma. Unfortunately, I do not have a red coat and my mother detests the idea of having yet another item ( like a basket) cluttering the house which she claims barely has room for anything!

As I approached the house I became puzzled by which gate I was to enter from, but since the larger gate came in sight first, that's the one I  used. BIG MISTAKE. I then had to endure what seemed like a long and precarious walk across the stone-filled drive way as I tried to be as quiet as possible so as not to disturb anyone. Do not tiptoe on stone covered floors, its definitely not the best approach to making a silent entry, thus I turned to running across the driveway onto the opposite side where there was a proper pathway! A pathway I would have conveniently met had I waited to reach the second gate of entry.

Having reached the front door, I stumbled on the door step looking for a bell, finally I realised they did not have a door bell just like our house and hesitating towards the bangy door knob, I gave two firm knocks. While I waited for someone to answer the door, my mind was having a serious moment of doubt, you know how when you knock and it takes a while for an answer: on the one hand you want someone to come to the door and on the other hand you wish there was no one home because if your like me, a teenager doesn't really have much to say to an adult unless they're arguing. :/

Finally, someone opened the door and I shared my cakes but I didn't stay long because she was resting so with a quick chat I was off, back home. The wonderful thing about sharing food with people in non-disposable dishes is that they usually return the dish or box with more food in return, in fact just a few minutes ago, her daughter came by our house with Lindt chocolates in the same dish and kind compliments about my cupcakes :D It's pleasing to know that situations we see on TV where neighbors give food and beverages to other neighbors, actually can happen.

I suppose, anything we see on TV can happen so long as we are prepared to make it happen, even if it is once in a blue moon.

Thanks for reading xxx
